Ritchey WCS Carbon 5Nm Handlebar Description Up for sale is a Ritchey WCS Carbon branded Mountain Bike Handlebar cassette. This mountain bicycle part belonged to a family member who is no longer with us, so I'm offering it up as part of ongoing online estate sale of sorts. It was kept in a storage bin for quite some time, and had been in draft mode for quite some time; mainly because I know next to nothing about bicycle parts in general, so I'll try to describe this part as best as I can; going by any visible information that's in front of me. The handlebar exhibits some signs of wear on it; but I can't really recall is if it was used by my dearly departed or if it was bought in the same condition that it is in now; with a few noticeable notches or tool marks towards the bottom and running through the logo. The sides of the handlebar also feel as though they had been sawed off a bit; possibly for a custom fit. The handlebar sports the Ritchey Carbon WCS logo in the front and has a sticker in the middle of it which feels like a worn piece of anti-slip tape with a slightly faded stylized R logo in white against a black backdrop and the word Carbon written in red in a half circle style circular lettering. There is also a gauge or ruler of some sort (which I believe is a height adjustment gauge) on either side which show increments of numbers in a descending format starting with 3-, 2-, 1-, 0, 1+, 2+, 3+, & 4+ on the left, and -3, -2, -1, 0, +1, +2, +3, & +4 on the right. Some of these numbers are slightly faded; most likely from previous use or general storage. And right at the bottom there's a Max 5Nm that's visible. I figure it must have something to do with the model. The measurement from tip to tip on this handlebar is approximately 20 & 3/8" wide (give or take) and the distance from each side of the handlebar towards the left or right of the aforementioned gauge sticker that resembles anti-slip tape is equidistant; measuring at about 9 & 3/16" in length. As stated before, there are some blemishes on the otherwise glossy looking surface of the carbon fiber handlebar that make it seem as though these areas were sanded down with a heavy grit sandpaper. I believe that this must have come about from additional biking gear that must have been mounted onto it at one point or another. This patch occurs just below the Carbon WCS portion of the logo, immediately right next to the gauge sticker. The other two noticeable blemishes are the thin lines or visible scrapes that seem to run right through the Ritchey WCS logo and its accompanying Carbon WCS logo; where the scrape runs through the space between the E and the Y and in Ritchey and the C and S in WCS on one side handle and the A in the Carbon logo on the other side handle. There's also an additional scrape or line running almost parallel to the gauge sticker in the center facing towards the Carbon WCS logo as well. Further on down a couple of other noticeable scrapes or slightly thicker lines flank the bottom of the height adjustment sticker as well. The inside of one of the exposed tubes also has what feels like a flaking off of the black on the carbon finish. While this is not immediately noticeable; especially after the grips have been placed on it and whatnot, it should be stripped out in order to avoid any noise rattling should this hanging piece of finish come apart completely. Other than that, I don't really know that much more about this handlebar... including where it was made or what year it's from. All I know is that it was considered a pretty high end bike accessory back in the day. Despite the visible wear on this handlebar, it still looks pretty usable. I figure if it can't be used again, it can always be hung up on a wall for display purposes as an objet d'art if you will.
